Description
The most popular crab apple for jelly making. Rich orange red fruits in October.
Plant one or two near your apple trees, especially non self fertile varieties, to ensure good fruit set.
- Season of use October.
- Self Fertile - but pollination by another apple will maximise yield.
- Grown on M26 rootstock for an ultimate (un-pruned) height of 8 - 12 feet (2.4 - 3.65 metres) but can easily be kept at a height of 6-8 feet (1.8 - 2.4 metres).
Recommended by the RHS to be an excellent attractant and nectar source for bees and other beneficial insects.
Recommended by the RHS to assist in encouraging bats into the garden as the flowers are likely to attract moths and other night-flying insects which bats love to eat!
