Our Feedback
HI We purchased apple tree James Grieve on the 05/03/2009. We must tell you how pleased we are, it has already developed a nice shape, and has produced 22 well formed apples we are amazed. The tree was value for money. We wish you all well.

Damson & Gage Trees

The Damson tree and Greengage tree (also known as a green gage plum tree) are becoming increasingly familiar features in British gardens once again, thanks in part to the rise in popularity of home-grown produce, as well as home preserving and jam-making.

These close relatives of the perennially popular edible plum tree are well suited to British climates, so it's no surprise to learn that our Greengage trees and Damson trees are grown right here in our Kent nursery, and supplied direct to our customers as bare root trees in the dormant season and potted in the summer. More...

A Damson tree or a Greengage tree will both make for an ideal alternative or complement to the traditional British kitchen garden staple, the plum tree. Damsons - smaller in size and much more tart than their edible plum 'cousins'- are a fantastic main component in jams, chutneys and preserves, home brews (damson gin, anyone?) and more. Being from the same family as the plum, the fruits of the Greengage tree have similar uses, but tend to be much sweeter than damsons, and can often be eaten straight from the tree or bush.

We grow and supply our Greengage trees and Damson trees direct from our Kent nursery, lifted from our growing fields and delivered as pruned bare root trees. Although our listings aren't exhaustive, we have invested a lot of time in creating a catalogue of Damson trees and Greengage trees that will produce the best-tasting fruits, alongside many other favourable growing characteristics. Some of our goldengage/greengage and damson trees are also self-fertile, meaning that they will blossom and produce fruit without needing another similar specimen nearby. We do, however, advise that if you want to maximise your damson or greengage crop, the presence of any other tree from the plum family will help to boost your yield.

Another great reason to invest in several trees from the same family is that with Victoriana Nursery Gardens, the more you buy direct from our nursery, the more you save! That's because we also offer discounts on three, five or more trees per order on products in the same group. For advice or a recommendation on any of our Greengage and Damson trees for sale, feel free to email or call our friendly team and we'll be more than happy to help.
