Description

Captivator produces lovely deep red gooseberries usually in late July which are so sweet it can be eaten straight from the bush or used for cooking before they are fully ripe. This variety is virtually spineless (please note it does still have some spines) particularly as it matures.

Bred in Canada so very hardy, it's parents being Spinefree and Clark.

  • Good mildew resistance.
  • Very hardy.
  • Fruits approximately late July to August.
  • Reach approx 5 feet tall (1.5 metres)
  • Plant 6 feet (1.5 metres) apart.
  • Virtually spineless (although does have some spines).
  • Likes a full sun or partial shade position.
  • Self fertile.
