Description

Popular with many UK vineyards, this black grape produces very heavy yields of good-quality  large and juicy fruit. As an eating grape this variety produces a real 'burst in the mouth' experience from large bunches of grapes that have that proper 'bunch' shape.

For those planning a more ornamental planting location this is certainly a variety to consider as it has highly attractive coloured foliage in autumn.

  • Originally from Germany.
  • Parentage - Helfensteiner x Heroldrebe.
  • Mid to late-season fruit ripening.
  • Winter wood ripening is good - so can be grown both outdoors or under protection (greenhouse, polytunnel or conservatory).
  • Can be trained using either the cane replacement method or spur pruning.
  • Self fertile.
  • Fruit contains seeds.
