Description

A white wine grape that has been grown for a long time in the Rueda region on Spain. Verdejo is thought to have orginated in North Africa and reached Spain in the 11th century. Verdejo is commonly grown at high altitutudes in Spain on free-draining soil.

This variety was traditionally used to make 'sherry-type' wines and harvested at night, in the cooler temperature as the fruits love to oxidise! It produces an aromatic yet soft and full-bodied white wine, popular for its honeyed, nutty flavour (sometimes similar to Sauvignon Blanc).

This variety we would recommend to more experienced wine makers as it is prone to oxidation.

  • Originally from North Africa.
