Description

A mid season Summer fruiting spine-free raspberry raised at the Scottish Crop Research Institute from a complex cross including 'Glen Prose's' and 'Meeker'. The variety has produced exceptional yields of firm fruit in trials and has established new standards in raspberry production.

Glen Ample produces large fleshy fruits of about 4 - 5 grams which are round conical in shape, attractive and with an excellent flavour. Cropping starts early July and carries through to mid August - highest yields being at the end of July. Good for freezing.

Spine free, very upright, canes are produced in abundance. Glen Ample has some tolerance to Root Rot. Its exceptionally high yield of firm quality fruit is the reason this now the most widely planted cultivar.

Recommended by the RHS to be an excellent attractant and nectar source for bees and other beneficial insects.

  • Floricane - produces fruit on second year wood.
  • Plant 18" - 24" (45 - 60 cm) apart.
  • Self Fertile.

This plant is protected by the Plant Variety Rights. Illegal propagation without a licence will lead to prosecution.
