Our Feedback
Thank you for my most recent order, delivered on Wednesday. The quality is better than ever, if that's possible. May I also thank the young lady who took my order last Friday. As I often have difficulty in hearing on the phone I appreciated her clarity, calmness and product knowledge. Obviously happpy in her work. Many thanks.

Description

This variety of sage is thought to originate from the mountain areas of South America and Mexico, so likes a warm location but has the most amazing blackcurrant smell to it and a really striking cerise flower.

Small green oval shaped leaves. Blackcurrant sage doesn't like to be positioned in cold winds or sit wet so choose it's location wisely!

Pruning is recommended in the Spring as the added foliage offers extra protection from the frost during the Winter.

Recommended by the RHS to be an excellent attractant and nectar source for bees and other beneficial insects.

  • Hardy perennial.
  • Reaches about 4 feet (120 cm) tall.
  • Prefers a sunny or partial shade, sheltered position.
  • Likes free draining soil.
  • Needs protection from cold winds.
  • Has pretty cerise flowers.
  • Evergreen.
  • Can be grown in pots (Winter protection will be required if in a container).
  • Culinary Uses
  • Adding to salad or drinks.
  • Good for herbal tea (commonly known as mirot de montes).
  • Medicinal Uses
  • Can be used to treat fever.
