Description

In ancient cultures Tansy's strong antiseptic properties meant it was used to preserve the dead. It is believed to arrest decay and its name derives from the Greek 'athanatos' which means immortality!

Tansy has lovely yellow brass-button flowers.

Tansy is a good insect repellent. Dried flowers and leaves can prevent the ingress of ants and other pests into your house. Crumpled leaves and flowers, even dried, will keep flies away in the kitchen and larder!

A member of the daisy family. Please note this is not an edible herb.

Recommended by the RHS to be an excellent attractant and nectar source for bees and other beneficial insects.
