Description
As the name suggests, the fruits of this lovely cherry tomato resemble Figs in shape! Over 200 years old now, the variety was popular in America in the 1800s for preserving in sugar as a fig alternative.
The teardrop-shaped fruits are actually a little bit bigger than a conventional cherry tomato but small enough to be a 'one mouthful' snack for most people. Perfect for snacking or the lunch box, these also look great when sliced vertically. The flesh is exceptionally sweet - as are the skins which are also very thin.
- This is an indeterminate variety and best grown as a cordon (vine).
- For best yields and size of fruit, stop at 6th truss if growing under protection (4th outside).
- Whilst the best crops will be grown under protection, this variety can also be grown outside.
