Our Feedback
First time I have ever tried to grow fruit, i.e. a relative novice. So you can imagine my surprise and delight when my Raspberries Polkas started to appear a couple of weeks ago (a month early!). Now growing in abundance and with a little bit of added sugar... "Absolutely delicious!!!!"

Description

Not a particularly hot chilli and certainly not as hot as the name suggests, but still very well worth growing!

We highly recommend this variety as it is so early into fruit (the earliest in our range) and extremely reliable, so you can get your 'fix' of chillies earlier in the year!

Produces a heavy crop of large fruits that can be used in a variety of ways including stuffing and roasting stir frying, eating raw, deep frying in tempura batter and even pickling.

Young fruits are pale green-yellow in colour and have a crisp Citrus flavour and a very mild heat; left to mature on the plant they will colour up to an orange-red and have built up a more significant heat - but still not overpowering.

Measuring an average of 3"-6" (7.5-15 cm) in length and 1"-1" (2.5-4 cm) in diameter, these thin-skinned fruits are perfect for stuffing and roasting - or filling with cream cheese or similar and battering and deep frying. Interestingly, when sliced, the closer to the stem you get the hotter it gets. We've also found that when cooked it loses some of its heat.

The plant has a compact and bushy habit, growing 2-3 feet (60-90 cm) tall with a spread of 1-1 feet (30-45 cm).

  • Origin: Hungary
  • Heat: Medium - approximately 5,000-15,000 SHUs
