Pollinator Friendly

Commercially Rovada is now the most widely planted cultivar of red currant planted - and for very good reason

Fruiting at the latter end of the season it produces long strigs of large berries with a bright and attractive appearance. More importantly the flavour is outstanding.

Without training it will produce an open slightly spreading bush, but is also perfect for growing on wires or as a cordon.

Recommended by the RHS to be an excellent attractant and nectar source for bees and other beneficial insects.

  • Harvest from early July.
  • Self fertile.
  • In bush form 'Rovada' is best planted 5 x 5 feet (1.5 x 1.5 metres) apart and kept at around 4 - 5 feet (1.2 - 1.5 metres) tall.
