Description

Do not confuse with annual bedding Lobelia - this is a perennial that grows around 2 - 3 feet (60 - 90 cm) feet tall. It is a modern hybrid of German origin and makes an excellent border plant. From July to September tall spikes of bloom arise in rich and pastel colours from pale pink through rose, crimson, lilac and purple.

Originally bred for the cut flower market, these do indeed make an excellent cut flower - and can last up to three weeks. One spike in a crystal vase looks fabulous.

Perfect for the open border, either planted as single specimens or on mass. And because they do well in wetter soils they are ideal for pond side or bog garden planting.

  • Flower July to September.
  • Grow to approximately 2 - 3 feet (60 - 90) tall.
  • Thrive in a sunny position and a rich moist soil to the point of being boggy.
  • For mass planting, plant 18" (45 cm) apart.
