Our Feedback
I am a totally satisfied customer. Who was amazed by the carefully packed tree I'd ordered only days before. Which arrived it perfect condition. I throughly approve of the paperless policy and the lack of acres of plastic in the packaging. I will now be a return customer and recommend to all my friends

Description

Very closely related to the Blueberry, they are native of North America and a lovely thing to grow!

Evergreen in habit, the Spring growth is tinged a ruddy bronze. Beautiful cream-coloured bell shaped flowers are followed by a profusion of the lovely black berries.

Ripening over a period of three weeks or more, the fruit is best left to fully ripen on the plant in order to achieve maximum flavour and juiciness! On the subject of juiciness, a word of caution - the purple black juice is very staining so any attempts at sneaky picking and eating in the garden will probably not go unnoticed anyway! Perfect for making juice (obviously), jams and syrups - or 'muddling' into a cake or muffin mix, or simply a bowl of ice cream.

  • Evergreen.
  • Harvest late August - September (best harvested when fully ripe - so check and pick regularly).
  • Grow to approximately 5 feet (150 cm) tall.
  • Thrive in full sun or partial shade.
  • Require an ericaceous (acid) soil.
  • Self fertile - though planting several plants will aid pollination and increase yield.
