Description

A vigorous, bushy evergreen with a neat, rounded habit, that likes full sun and a moist, well-drained soil.

Winter Heath 'Margaret Porter' has mid-green foliage, with cream tips on the young shoots in spring. This is topped off with beautiful lilac-coloured flowers, which appear between December and May, providing some very welcome winter colour.

This plant was first raised as a seedling by J.W. Porter of Carryduff in Co. Down, sometime before 1963.

  • Likes full sun, well-drained soil
  • Reaches a height of 6" - 8" (15 - 20 cm)
  • Achieves spread of 12" - 18" (30 - 45 cm).
  • Good for ground cover.

Recognised to be an excellent attractant and nectar source for bees and other beneficial insects.
