Catalogna Seed

Something we have discovered from Italy which is effectively a cut and come again lettuce. The elongated leaves are deeply lobed and tender with very crunchy ribs. Very fast regrowing.

Very well worth growing and can crop all summer, autumn and early winter. After cutting you will obtain further shoots in the same way that Spinach re-grows. It also has the added benefit of standing well without readily bolting in a hot summer.

• Sow late March onwards under protection either in seed trays - or drills ½" (1 cm) deep in rows 8" apart.
• When large enough to handle transplant outside, planting 8" - 10" (20-25 cm) apart in rows 18" (45 cm) apart.
• Alternatively direct sow mid April onwards into ½" deep drills 18" (45 cm) apart. and thin to one plant per 8-10" (20-25 cm) apart when large enough to handle (and of course eat the thinnings).

• Top Tips
• Cut regularly to encourage a constant supply of juvenile foliage - which is far sweeter than the larger leaves. As a guide the crop should be no taller than 12" (30 cm) tall.
