Our Feedback
Late July and I decided to replace a couple of plants in my flowerbed that are not earning their keep. I decided I want Fuchsias. I did a bit of research, decided on the variety I wanted and then tried to find some. Victoriana came up trumps and had the variety I was looking for, and offered reasonably priced mail order too. I was delighted when I received my plants. They are sturdy and bushy. They've been pinched back so there are lots of shoots. They were well packed and clearly were posted to avoid being in the post over the weekend in what was a very hot spell in July / August 2020. Arrived still moist and in fabulous condition. I am delighted with them. A teensy bit potbound, as to be expected at this time of year, but the lovely root system means I'm sure they'll get their roots out and grow on in no time. 100% satisfied customer; I would happily recommend Victoriana Nurseries to anyone wanting to buy a Fuchsia. These are the experts. Thank you!

Pollinator Friendly

Sown from February to August you will produce very worthwhile Fuchsias with the same quality and strength of constitution as Fuchsias raised from cuttings. Even sowings in early May will produce large flowering plants late Summer.

Name your very own variety! This is the method by which all new Fuchsia varieties are derived. The seeds are carefully gathered from our wide range of fuchsias here at the nursery and mixed with a little sand (dust dry), this helps when you are sowing them as the seeds are quite small, then they are packeted for dispatch.

The flowers from fuchsias are edible, although it is recommended that you remove the green and brown 'bits' as well as the stamen to enhance their flavour.

Recommended by the RHS to be an excellent attractant and nectar source for bees and other beneficial insects.

  • Sow from early February to early September.
  • Sow seed on the surface of the compost thinly and lightly cover with sieved compost so seed is just out of sight. Press down with a patter, a small piece of ply and water with previously boiled water that has been allowed to cool. Place in propagator with a basal heat of 65 - 70°f (18 - 21°C).
  • Germination should be complete within four weeks.
  • Do take care to shield from strong sun as propagators can 'climb' to over 100°f (38°C) on a sunny day with devastating results on germination.
  • Remove from propagator when first true pair of leaves appear.
  • Grow on at around 60 - 65°f (15 - 18°C) in part shade and when large enough to handle pot on into growing compost.
  • Thereafter cultivation follows the usual way as for fuchsias. Only you will be able to decide the after treatment, as lax growers will of course be basket Fuchsias and the more compact habit as bush.
  • You can thereafter take cuttings and there is nothing to prevent you giving your own names to these you have raised.
