Pollinator Friendly

A summer flowering variety of allium with pale pink/lilac star shaped flowers that darken to a purple as they mature. It has narrow, almost grass like green leaves.  The small bulbs and leaves of this variety can be salted and eaten during the Winter in small quantities (should you wish).

This variety of allium will tolerate temporary flooding and prefers a wetter ground.

Originates from Central Europe and Southern Finland where it likes to grow in wet meadows. It is a member of the amaryllidaceae family.

Also known as Mouse Garlic.

  • Flower approximately June - September.
  • Perennial.
  • Reach approximately 14" (35 cm) tall.
  • Plant approximately 6" (15 cm) apart.
  • Prefers a moist/damp/clay location.

  • Make a good cut flower.

Recognised to be an excellent attractant and nectar source for bees and other beneficial insects.
